Tailgate Time

On Friday, I'm heading to Boston for the BC-Notre Dame football game and I couldn't be more excited. My sister is a junior at Boston College and my dad went to Notre Dame so it's always a great time and a fun rivalry. My mom always does it up for the tailgate. She's heading down to Arthur Avenue tomorrow to pick up the freshest meats and cheeses and always cooks up her famous chili. Luckily, it's going to be in the 50's so I can leave my heavy winter coat behind in New York. Can't wait for bloody marys and fun times with my family.

I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to wear and below are some outfit inspirations I've pulled from pinterest.Plaid and flannel and cashmere and big, comfy sweaters and boots and scarves and barbour jackets come to mind!

Travel in Style: Airport Essentials

Thursday night I'm flying to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit my boyfriend. Well, I'm hoping to fly Thursday night. With the power outages and widespread destruction due to Hurricane Sandy, who knows if I'll get out but my fingers (and toes) are crossed! I'm projecting positive vibes and have been inspired to do a travel post. Below are some essentials for a weekend getaway.

1. Cashmere travel blanket // 2. Raw unsalted almonds // 3. Open wrap cardigan // 4. Diane Von Furstenburg iPad case with iPad 3 // 5. Smart Water // 6. Bose headphones // 7. Blair Ritchey travel cases // 8. iPhone 5 // 9. Fresh travel kit

Below are some luggage, cosmetic cases, totes and shoes that will make your trip more comfortable and fashionable.

Finally, I never fly without my Saint Christopher necklace and a cocktail. I hope everyone is safe and recovering from the storm-- pray that I can get out and everyone that needs help gets it!

Fall Book Club Party

My friend, Sara, is hosting a book club party at her apartment next week and asked me what I thought she should serve for dinner. It got me thinking about hosting my own book club meeting/party and what I would serve, wear and read.

I absolutely adored this book. Written about New York in the late 30’s, what’s not to love??

 Butternut squash soup recipe here

Fall salad recipe can be found here. I like to make mine with spinach, fig, pecans, wheat berries, chevre, craisins, olive oil and red wine vinegar.

Ginger apple bourbon recipe can be found here.

Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Granges 2011 is a great red and only $19.

My mom buys these at Bartlett Orchards upstate and they are incredible.

Comfy and casual
