Sites to Know: Home Edition

I am pretty obsessed with home decor. Pretty much every space in my tiny apartment is covered with art, "trinkets and tchotchkes (sp?)" - thanks to my sister... - furniture, etc. Even though I'm not currently buying for myself, I love to look and pin for the future. My parents are getting plans together to build a new house in Connecticut and I've been obsessed with pinning things to our secret Pinterest board.

One of my new favorite sites is Guildery. Talk about custom upholstered heaven! They digitally print on Belgian Linen and source designs from some of my favorite bloggers, tastemakers and interior designers to make custom headboards, ottomans, curtains and even wallpaper. Here's the best part, you can even create your own designs and have them printed on pillows, napkins, wallpaper, gift wrap, etc. I am seriously obsessed with this site.

Zinc Door is another site that I constantly scout. They have amazing pieces from designers like arteriors jay jeffers, Palacek Sawyer, Jeffrey Alan Marks and more. They also have great gifts and decorative objects.

Twice as Nice

My sister, Tory, and I shared a room for a few years and we had the most adorable white wrought iron twin beds with raspberry toile duvets and cute matching bedding. Although the room sharing was short lived, I had twin beds until I was a teenager and have always loved the look in a bedroom. After parting ways with Tory, I had a green theme with antique wooden twin and I definitely plan on stealing back the white wrought iron beds when I have kids (heads up, Tory...) I love the funky/colorful headboards below and also the look of the faux deer heads above the beds. Is that weird?? They're randomly featured in three of the bedrooms below.

My First NYC Apartment

After I graduated, I was so excited to get a New York City apartment and make it my own. I lived at home all summer and commuted so I couldn't wait to find a place. The truth is, as all New Yorkers know, you don't get a lot of space for your buck. I did luck out with the size of my bedroom but it is still significantly smaller than the rooms I had in college and at home. I wanted to decorate with a somewhat neutral palate and decided on a tan/oatmeal and blue color scheme. There are pops of gold and silver and a little bit of pink from art and decorative accents, as well. It was a big project finding things that were in my budget. I knew I wanted a nail head headboard but the ones from West Elm and other store were too expensive.

I found my headboard on overstock.com and it was a real steal at less than $200. I got a lot of great things from Home Goods like my bedside dresser/table and a lot of decorative objects in my living room. For the rest of the room, I looked on Etsy, Joss and Main and One Kings Lane for weeks before deciding on my lampshade, decorative pillow, etc. I've already been in for a month and still haven't found a rug (or a price) that I like. If anyone sees one they think would look good in my room let me know!

Below are some pictures from my apartment bedroom and then links below.

This one is a bit blurry but wanted to show my great beside table!
