Gifts for the Guys

The great thing about having a women's lifestyle blog? I can share with you my gift guide ideas for men without the fear of the men in my life knowing what I'll get them because they admittedly don't read my blog. (Watch this be the one time they do...)

Nail Set // a little unorthodox but I promise you guys will be psyched to pick and prod at their skin, nails, etc. with this very masculine set.

Cuff Links + Money Clip // he'll feel super sophisticated with this cuff lunk/money clip combo

Dopkit // he can grab this on the go grooming kit and use the dopkit when the products are all out

Ralph Lauren Cashmere Sweater // you can never go wrong with a good cashmere sweater - this one in gray is timeless

Personalized Leather iPad Case // Looks great with a personal touch

Caps/One Size Fits All Book // Great coffee table book

Patagonia Backpack // An updated and more grown up version of the old classic. Great for weekend trips and hiking

Tumi Luggage // The best of the best and he will feel super sleek rolling this on business trips.

johnnie-O Button Downs // shameless self-promotion BUT I obviously stand behind the products! johnnie-O has amazing polos, outerwear, bathing suits, etc. for men and boys. The 4-button polo will be his new favorite.

Sunglasses // these glasses are trendy yet classic - a perfect stocking stuffer especially if you're heading on a holiday getaway

Patagonia Jacket // This coat is expensive but he will never need another one. Designed with Jackson Hole, this Patagonia jacket is the warmest coat, expertly constructed to withstand the harshest conditions.

Garment Bag // This garment bag is chic and every man on the go needs one!

Burberry Scarf // If he'll wear any scarf, it will be this Burberry one. Guys don't realize how much warmer a scarf can make you. My brother finally figured it out during his walks to the office during the Polar Vortex in NYC.

American Flag Socks // Don't believe the old knowledge that socks are a bad Christmas present. They are not - for stylish men, at least. My brother would love rocking this pair.

Bushnell Golf Tracker Watch // Pre-loaded with over 30,000 courses, this is a must have for the golf lover guy in the group.. Aka all the guys in my life.

Homepolish

I love the concept of Homepolish. You have an initial consultation with a designer and then buy a bucket of hours and they go to work for you. You can re-decorate your whole house or one room and pick your budget - the designers go to work creating the perfect space. I am also obsessed with the website! They have gorgeous pictures of finished spaces from offices to bedrooms to outdoor patios. Check out the site here and a few of my favorite photos below.

Artist of the Day: Carter Kustera

I have been obsessed with Carter Kustera since I saw his silhouettes in the Westchester Mall at the Barneys outlet plastered all over the dressing rooms. I didn't know they were by him but the quirky sayings and bright colors stuck in my mind. Years later, I saw he was doing a special with Jonathan Adler but they were a bit out of my price range at the time. And then - this morning I saw custom portraits were available on Gilt City for much less and I jumped at the opportunity to get a few. My dream would be to have a full gallery wall but I purchased three for now. The great thing is, you get to pick your color and saying and it is a real silhouette based on the picture you send. And he paints animals too! Cannot wait to add mine to our gallery wall! Aren't they fun?

Wednesday Wishlist

I've been loving creams and nudes and light pinks recently - can you tell from my wishlist below?? P.S. how amazing are those nike calf hair wedges?? NEED.

Holiday Hostess Gift Ideas

I am all messed up without the seasons here. The fact that it is November 11th and I was wearing a tank top last night is crazy and the holidays have really snuck up on me! We are celebrating Thanksgiving in LA with some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins, parents, siblings and grandmother. It's going to be a full house!

I love the idea of giving a unique hostess gift that the recipient will use all the time and love. They don't necessarily have to be holiday themed and it makes them want to invite you to more parties! What are your favorite go-to hostess gifts? I love the gorgeous and hilarious cocktail napkins by August Morgan. I've given out the "seeing double" ones and I'm thinking the "overserved" and "lightweight" napkins would go perfectly on our bar cart. Also, nothing better than a Frasier fur candle from November through December (and beyond...).

Hanging Art

Tory and I are settled in our apartment and absolutely loving it but on the hunt for 1. an ottoman with tray situation 2. credenza/buffet with storage underneath and 3. we need to get our gallery wall up. I recently made a trip back to NY and stayed with my friend Caroline, who has the cutest gallery wall in her apartment. It inspired me to get moving on ours. How do you guys handle hanging art? Do you like random gallery walls or more structured lines? We have a mix of photographs and prints and all different sized frames so it will definitely take some time to arrange but I can't wait to see how it turns out.

My Life Lately 11.3.14

My life lately has been hectic but great! My sister, Lulu, visited a few weekends ago and it was so great to see her and we ate at some awesome restaurants to show her the town! Other highlights from October included going to my very first country concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Luke Bryan was amazing! We moved to a new office for johnnie-O, which is so much bigger and better. My friend, Will, visited a few weeks ago and I can't wait for more visits from friends. I suppose my visit to Raleigh was in September, but that was also a Fall highlight!

As for recently, I flew back from the East Coast this morning and had such a great Fall weekend at home. Although it was a bit cold, it was amazing to see my brother and friends run in the NYC Marathon and crush it. I particularly enjoyed an true New York spread of bagels and lox and cream cheese - and mimosas, of course! I also loved getting to see my pups. I have to say, I had lost that loving feeling with Manhattan but after getting a bit of distance, I see it in a completely different light and am happy that I have a romantic and lovely view of the city once again.

Back on the West Coast and things are busy at work and school but I am absolutely loving this West Coast "Fall" weather. I cut my hair about 4-5 inches and it feels SO much better. Don't you love a good chop?? Tory and I are throwing a beer and grilled cheese party that we are so excited for, my friend Cristine will be out in LA for the month, my family is coming out for Thanksgiving and Riley comes out for a few days when they play the Kings. So many fun things to look forward to this November!! Not to mention many more beach days ahead.
