Spring/Summer's Best Sandals

Finally time for some cute sandals and shorts. Okay, I lied - it's supposed to be 48 and rainy this week... But a girl should always be prepared for sunshine... I'm actually heading to Canada, where it's supposed to be 75 and sunny all week - go figure!

Zara Spring Fashion

Zara has SUCH cute stuff right now. Head over this weekend for an influx of colors and pattens and awesome shoes - for $59.99! The pink coats are also to die for.

Designer Crush of the Day: Sara Ruffin Costello

My friend, Sara, introduced me to the work of Sara Ruffin Costello and I was literally giddy looking at her stuff. When I found out she was the founding creative director at Domino I immediately knew why I was so drawn to her interiors. She manages to make spaces look elegant, laid back and lived in, all at the same time, while giving a space that "finished" look. She also loves fireplaces and restoration. She recently designed a downtown NYC bachelor pad that gives a whole new meaning to bachelor pad because I would literally move in exactly as is... She and her family moved to New Orleans from NYC and updated a gorgeous old home there. She also contributes to House Beautiful, Vogue, the WSJ and was in a commercial for Target for their Threshold line, which she helps design. Need I say more? The pictures should speak for themselves...

The lovely Sara

As if this gorgeous place needed any more fireplaces to add to its beauty!

Dying over this room. The bamboo shades! The painted brick! The color scheme! The great art!

New Beauty Loot

Every season I get some fresh products and makeup - not because I need to - I am just such a product junkie. Below are my latest beauty obsessions. P.S. is anyone as obsessed with eyeshadow palettes as I am?? It's a problem! The gals at Sephora look at me funny when they see how many points I have...

ONE // Tracie Martyn enzyme exfoliant is gentle but gets the job done. Your skin feels like you got a facial after.

TWO // I love coral and fuchsia lips for spring and summer. I don't have Tom Ford's lipstick in "summer fling" just yet but it will be mine! How gorgeous is that color and the casing is pretty enough to show off. I also love "frolic."

THREE // If you know me, you know that I don't own blush. I love my new Nars palette that comes with Orgasm blush, Laguna bronzer and a highlighter. I'm trying to learn how to contour so this is my new best friend. It's also the perfect compact size to throw in your purse.

FOUR // If you're like me, your face is not any one "type" of skin type. I would classify my skin as combination, it's dry on my cheeks and oily on my t-zones and I'm prone to clogged pores on my nose. This Boscia kit is awesome. It comes with 4 different masks designed to mix and match with instructions and a brush to put them on. I can't wait to try this

FIVE // Laura Mercier kohl eye pencil in stormy grey is my favorite eye liner. It is the perfect color and it's really creamy and easy to apply.

SIX // Stila is a hidden gem for eye shadows. Theirs are super pigmented and come in great colors. I had my eye on this palette for a few months and finally bit the bullet. If you have brown eyes, you need this. It has perfect neutrals and purples and browns to make your eyes pop. Obsessed.

SEVEN // I recently got a facial with the wonderful Cecilia Wong of Cecilia Wong Skincare and my skin was glowing. She recommended her toner, that has probiotics, for the oil bumps that have been forming on my forehead because of working out. You can spritz as you go and it kills bacteria, effectively not allowing acne to form. It smells great too and is all natural. You can buy it here.

Trench Coat and Linen Skirt

Hi everyone! I promised I would do some outfits of the day (#ootd) so here is my first ever! This was the perfect Easter outfit and I am obsessed with my trench! I had been wanting desperately to get the Burberry trench coat but when I saw this Club Monaco one at a fraction of the price and it is so cute and such a great material, I stopped thinking about the Burberry one. The skirt is linen and has a light chambray look. I went into Joie and tried on a bunch of things but I couldn't walk away without that baby. Let me know what you guys think of ootd's being a regular occurrence!

Edie Parker Cuteness

My cousin, Louisa, was in town yesterday on her way back to school and she showed me the Edie Parker clutch she wants to ask her parents for as a graduation present and she almost had to pry my hands off of her laptop. Edie Parker was launched about four years ago and makes acrylic clutches and bags. These vintage inspired creations are an ode to socialites in the 1950's and 60's and they are so glam. You can buy them at net-a-porter, Barneys, Bergdorfs, Matches Fashion (great site that I just found), Editorialist and other places but what really caught my eye was the bespoke bags. You can pick your material and colors and choose what you want to have spelled out. The whole design and creation process takes place in the good old US of A and the bags are completely handmade. Designer and creator, Brett Heyman, previously worked at Gucci, Elle Magazine, Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani. She sought out vintage purses at flea markets and vintage shops until she wasn't pleased enough with her purchases and wanted to create exactly what she was after.

The clutches, while very expensive, are the perfect accessory for a night on the town. I'm actually a little nervous for my sister, Tory, to see these because she just might "need" one. The "Mrs." clutch with the adorable pink, mother of peal-esque case, gold fastener and mirrored inside would be the perfect bag to use as a bride-to-be at your rehearsal dinner. I am obsessed. Which would you guys get? The one with the oranges is gorgeous and I like the black zigzags but I think if I had to choose, I would get the black clutch with "Clare" in silver. Check out the site http://www.edie-parker.com/ to check out more designs.

Spring/Summer Bags

Is anyone getting the itch to update their bag? Twice a year a get that strange, urgent nagging telling me I neeeed a new bag (it's the worst...). Spring is a fun time to put away your black and brown purses and wear more brights and pastels. I posted a few weeks ago about falling head over heels for a baby blue Celine - thank goodness I haven't been able to see it in person or else my bank account would probably be wiped out. I have a lime green bag that my mom got at an Elyse Walker sale that is my go-to for summer. It is big and structured but not too structured and is the perfect color. I would definitely swap it out for one of the below. The GiGi New York one comes in a bunch of different colors and is the perfect size. I love the Iris color. The Chloe Marcie is the perfect size and color and I really want it...

Get the Coachella Look

Spring is hands down my favorite season. I find myself in a good mood 24/7 because I can finally be outside. I also adore spring fashion. I feel like people are dying to shake the dust off of their spring wardrobe and I find that spring style is always a little more daring and fun. It's also the start of music festival season and which festival is better known than Coachella? The California music festival draws celebrities and muggles alike and the fashion is always hippie chic. Below are some items I will wear next year when I go : ) Cali here I come!

Have a Healthy Weekend!

It usually takes me about 3-4 days to really commit to a diet/health kick. If I cheat on day 2, I am so far gone I have to wait another month to start again. I am on day 3 right now and am feeling great. I picked up a Green Guru smoothie from green&tonic in Greenwich, which was delicious! If you haven't been, there are locations in Greenwich, Cos Cob, Darien, Mamaroneck and Armonk and they have 4 options for cleanses and one includes food (score!). They have chia puddings and salads and soups and great cold pressed juices and smoothies. Are you guys fans of green juices? I may be a total weirdo because I love them...  Below is the recipe for the one I had today - you have to try it! I'd love to hear from my readers your favorite healthy recipes and favorite places to get healthy smoothies and juices - help a girl out!

Green Guru Smoothie
-Green Tea (matcha is an easy way to add potent green tea powder to smoothies)
-Coconut Water
-Lemon
-Spinach
-Banana
-Green Apple
-Ginger (not my favorite but tasted great in this!)

Loving Right Now: Black and White Rugs

I have been loving black and white rugs and not just in neutral rooms. Black and white rugs have been popping up in colorful rooms and look great. Finding the right rug has always been a struggle for me when decorating a room.. I adore the look of the black and white Moroccan rug below and may have to try mixing black and white with color! Madeline Weinrib has some amazing ones and Pinterest is a great place to look for ideas for how to style this trend.

Landscaping and John Street Reno Update

It is finally feeling like spring has sprung! I took a trip over to the property that my parents are cleaning up/building a house/renovating cottages on and they have done a ton of work clearing out old trees and   the property looks amazing and huge! With the sunlight and the fact that the snow has finally melted and you can see the ground, it is all starting to seem real. Pictures below:

The wires will all be buried and there will be planting along the fence along with grass planted everywhere. The shutters are going to be put on the cottage soon.

A bunch of dead trees were knocked down hence the big pile of wood chips. It's been very rainy in Greenwich so there is a lot of mud but from the old 100 year old stone wall to the new house will be a huge front yard.

Panorama view

This is from where the old tennis court was looking back. The new house will be built here.

The adorable cottage! Interior pics coming soon! There is also a gate house that is being completely gutted and I will have pictures of that along with the 6 car garage/barn that will be converted to a "party barn." Next step is talking to an architect for the house.

My mom is starting to think about planting and building the house now and we've been pinning to our secret John St. pin board amazing ideas. Check out some of our favorite landscaping and planting.
