Muskoka Dreaming

I've long admired the dreamy interior and exterior shots of cottages big and small nestled on the waters of beautiful Lake Muskoka in Ontario. Below are a few that will show you why I seek out photos of this glorious landscape : )

Homepolish

I love the concept of Homepolish. You have an initial consultation with a designer and then buy a bucket of hours and they go to work for you. You can re-decorate your whole house or one room and pick your budget - the designers go to work creating the perfect space. I am also obsessed with the website! They have gorgeous pictures of finished spaces from offices to bedrooms to outdoor patios. Check out the site here and a few of my favorite photos below.

Painted Trim

I've been noticing a that a lot of designers have been experimenting with painting trim a different color than the wall colors and I am loving it! I've seen some adorable wallpapered rooms with beautifully painted trim, as well. What do you guys think of this trend? I love it - it's sort of quirky and whimsical.

Designer Crush of the Day: Sara Ruffin Costello

My friend, Sara, introduced me to the work of Sara Ruffin Costello and I was literally giddy looking at her stuff. When I found out she was the founding creative director at Domino I immediately knew why I was so drawn to her interiors. She manages to make spaces look elegant, laid back and lived in, all at the same time, while giving a space that "finished" look. She also loves fireplaces and restoration. She recently designed a downtown NYC bachelor pad that gives a whole new meaning to bachelor pad because I would literally move in exactly as is... She and her family moved to New Orleans from NYC and updated a gorgeous old home there. She also contributes to House Beautiful, Vogue, the WSJ and was in a commercial for Target for their Threshold line, which she helps design. Need I say more? The pictures should speak for themselves...

The lovely Sara

As if this gorgeous place needed any more fireplaces to add to its beauty!

Dying over this room. The bamboo shades! The painted brick! The color scheme! The great art!

Bamboo Shades

I've been loving the look of bamboo shades and last night when I told my mom that we should consider putting them in one of the new John Street cottages, she reminded me that she was way ahead of the trend and had them in our first house in New York (go mom!). They add a youthful element to a room and are almost beachy without being too much for a house that experiences seasons. Check a few of my favorite versions below. Whether in an office, living room, kitchen or bedroom, I am lovinggg bamboo shades.

Beautiful Built-Ins

Built-ins can completely change a room. They always seem to make it seem more finished and organized and is a great solution for a small space in need of more storage. Below are some that have caught my eye recently.
