My Life Lately 3.8.14

Spring is in the air (finally)! I officially started working at johnnie-O yesterday and I could not be happier. I am currently working in the Greenwich office until the big move to the west coast in August! I spent some time in Canada and we celebrated Tory's birthday, Easter and a bunch of great meals. That paleo thing for lent didn't go so well, unfortunately. By the way - if anyone needs a Father's Day gift, I know just the thing...

Want It - Need It... Celine Hobo Bag

I was obsessed with the Celine luggage tote from when they first came out until I discovered the Celine trapeze bag. I'm now having a moment with the Celine hobo bag being carried around by Hilary Duff in a yellowy/orange. The hobo is sort of similar to the Hermes Taurillon Clemence Evelyne bag. I saw it in Saks today in cobalt and in the grayish color below and the gray is a real winner. The bag also comes with a little wallet insert. It really is so gorgeous and would be a great addition to my wardrobe for this summer or fall. My birthday is in September so we'll see if my obsession dies down by then. By the way, isn't Hil Duff looking very cool these days??

Met Ball Fashion 2014

Every year when the Met Ball comes around, I can't help but stalk the fashion. Each year there is a new exhibit that inspires the theme of the event (last year was punk, the year before "models as muses") and this year was Charles James: Beyond Fashion. Charles James was a British born fashion designer who is owed a lot for the look of ball gowns today. He was known as "America's First Couturier" at a time when Paris was dominating the fashion scene. His gowns often showed off a woman's figure in sexy silhouettes. His career took off in the 20's and he continued to work until his death in the late 70's. How stunning and glamorous are the gowns below??

With all of that in mind, a perfect look for this year's Met Gala would include a big, gorgeous ball gown with a figure hugging silhouette reminiscent of something that could come from the 20's-50's. So that's pretty broad, which is why we had a wide array of dresses and styles. A couple of fashion mavens who were right on theme include Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Anna Wintour's daughter, Bee Shaffer, model Liu Wen and Sarah Jessica Parker (to name a few). Below are a few of my favorites.

Stella's Girls - Stella McCartney hit a home run with dresses/outfits for Reese Witherspoon, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Cara Delevigne. Although Rihanna and Cara's outfits weren't exactly on theme, they looked gorgeous.

Bee Shaffer - when you're the spawn of Anna Wintour, you're going to look fabulous and get the theme just right. The dress looks like it could have come right out of one of the vintage pictures above.

Ladies in Red

 Allison Williams

Lake Bell

Sarah Silverman

Topshop Girls (Kendall Jenner, Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn and Toni Garn)

Nicole Richie (love her vintage glam and her purple hair)

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen looked like they could be the models in the first picture with Charles James - loved Ashley's ensemble, didn't love Mary Kate's but I think I liked it more than most people

This dress fit Olivia Munn like a glove and she was one of the few wearing yellow

SJP in Oscar de la Renta was flawless. This dress is SO her

Navy Babes

Marion Cotillard

Dakota Johnson (love the dress, hate the gloves)

Blake Lively looked flawless

Posh and Becks

Liu Wen looked stunning - what a dress by Zac Posen

Who were your favorites??
